Pastor, Resignation Letter

Thompson Chapel Baptist Church

May 13, 2025

Dear Beloved Church Family and Friends,

With a heart full of gratitude and reverence, I write to you today to announce my retirement as Pastor of Thompson Chapel, effective May 31, 2025, after 25 plus years of ministry among you. My last Sunday in the pulpit will be May 18, 2025. Bro. Tim Scott will preach on the 25th.

This decision has not come lightly, Karen and I have prayed, reflected, and sought the Lord’s wisdom and I believe the time has come for me to step aside and allow the next chapter of leadership to unfold. While my role is changing, my love and prayers for this congregation remain steadfast and eternal.

Serving this church has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Together, we have worshiped, wept, celebrated, and grown. We have welcomed new souls into the Kingdom, stood beside each other in seasons of sorrow, and witnessed the hand of God move in mighty ways. I am humbled to have walked this road with you.

You have allowed me the sacred privilege of shepherding your lives, your families, and your faith. Thank you for your grace, your encouragement, and your love.

Though I am retiring from the pulpit, I am not retiring from the call of Christ. I will continue to serve Him as He leads, and I will forever be a part of the Thompson Chapel family in spirit and in prayer.

I am confident that God has already prepared someone to carry the mantle forward. The church is strong, rooted in love, and guided by truth. The future is bright because the foundation is firm.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you, and give you peace.

With all my love,

Rev. Johnny Garrett, Pastor
